Abstract
Si les modernes sont animés par de puissantes aspirations morales, ils sont aussi disposés, en raison de leur regard réductionniste sur l’être humain, à nier la réalité de ces aspirations. Des cadres conceptuels comme le marxisme, tout en déclarant ostensiblement que des désirs amoraux sont immanents aux motivations morales, imprègnent subrepticement certaines fins matérielles d’une ferveur morale. Grâce à ces cadres, les modernes peuvent préserver leur regard réductionniste et leurs aspirations morales, désormais recouvertes d’un déguisement scientifique qui permet d’escamoter la contradiction entre ces engagements. Voilà un processus d’ inversion morale . Disposés à reconnaître une valeur morale à la force brute, certains modernes en viennent même à offrir leur appui moral au pouvoir nu.
