Abstract
La Partida VI del compendio legislativo castellano, las Siete Partidas de Alfonso X (1221-1284), describe el proceso de formulación e impugnación del testamento, la designación de herederos y el reparto obligatorio de un tercio de los bienes del progenitor entre todos los hijos por medio de la “legítima”. El objetivo de este artículo persigue demostrar de qué manera detrás de las intenciones de Alfonso X de abogar por el derecho individual hereditario a través de la “legítima”, se escondía otro propósito más personal: desestabilizar el poder económico de la nobleza que hacía peligrar las aspiraciones políticas del rey Sabio.
