Abstract
This chapter presents some of the more important tourism trends that will influence the planning and management of parks and protected areas in the medium term. It is indicated that the role of parks and tourism will change in response to changing social needs and environmental conditions. There are many challenges and equally many opportunities for tourism-related benefits in parks and protected areas.
