Abstract
Cette étude vise à analyser la représentation de la ville dans Un Joualonais sa Joualonie de Marie-Claire Blais. Nous observerons que cet espace est marqué par une série de différences (géographiques, sociales, économiques, linguistiques, culturelles) qui conditionnent les relations entre les personnages. Nous examinerons aussi l’importance qu’acquièrent les concepts d’aliénation et d’abjection dans la description verticale de l’espace urbain. Nous verrons toutefois comment les frontières entre les différences sociales et spatiales cachent une fracture plus grande, constituée par un ensemble de discours antagoniques qui reflètent la pluralité du Québec des années 70.
