Abstract
General. Reagents were purchased reagent grade from commercial suppliers and used without further purification. Et 2 O, toluene, and THF were distilled from sodium/benzophenone ketyl, and hexanes and CH 2 Cl 2 were distilled from CaH 2 immediately prior to use. Anh. MgSO 4 or Na 2 SO 4 were used as the drying agent after aqueous work-up. Evaporation and concentration in vacuo was done at water-aspirator pressure. All reactions were performed in standard, dry glassware under an inert atmosphere of Ar or N 2 . Column chromatography: silica gel-60 (230-400 mesh) from General Intermediates of Canada.
