espanolIntroduccion: la ataxia adquirida es una manifestacion neurologica causada por procesos patologicos del sistema nervioso que cursa con alteraciones motoras. Maria, desde los 18 anos, sufre una ataxia provocada por un accidente cerebrovascular en la region posterior del tronco del encefalo. Cuando 28 meses mas tarde acudio a nosotros, entre los sintomas taxicos destacaban la afectacion del equilibrio y de la coordinacion motora. Nuestro objetivo es elaborar un plan de intervencion con la finalidad de recuperar el control motor que impide a Maria desempenar los roles ocupacionales que desea. Metodos: el plan se fundamenta en el marco de referencia teorico de aprendizaje y control motor y el modelo de practica sistematica de la terapia ocupacional. Particularmente utilizamos el modelo canadiense de rendimiento ocupacional para la evaluacion y el modelo de ocupacion humana para el desarrollo de los abordajes de tratamiento. Conclusiones: mostramos la notable mejoria funcional experimentada por Maria tras siete semanas de tratamiento y razonamos por que han mejorado notablemente sus habilidades motoras en pocas semanas, teniendo en cuenta que durante los 18 meses previos no habia presentado mejoria en este ambito EnglishIntroduction: acquired ataxia is a neurological manifestation caused by pathological processes of the nervous system that presents with motor alterations. Maria, from 18 years of age,suffers an ataxia caused by a cerebrovascular accident in the posterior region of the brainstem. When 28 months later she came to us, among the ataxic symptoms highlighted the affectation of balance and motor coordination. In order to recover the motor control that prevented Maria from performing the occupational roles she wanted, we developed an intervention plan. Methods:the plan is based on the theoretical framework of learning and motor control and the model of systematic occupational therapy practice. In particular, we use the canadian model of occupational performance for evaluation and the model human occupation for the development of treatment approaches. Conclusion: after seven weeks of treatment with the rehabilitative approachment, we show the functional changes the patient has achieved and we concluded it as because she had remarkably improved her motor skills over a few weeks, having into account that during the previous 18 months treatment there was not a good response in this area.
