Abstract
En dépit de son « naturalisme », l’éthique aristotélicienne ne valorise guère la figure de l’enfant. Non conforme à la nature ( kata phusin ), l’enfant doit plutôt être rectifié dans ses tendances spontanées. Obsédé par le plaisir, il serait presque déréglé par nature. Parce qu’elle est rationnelle donc humaine seulement en puissance, Aristote ne retient de l’enfance que les déficiences. L’enfant est maladivement faible, physiquement disproportionné, et surtout étranger à la raison. Il semble plus proche de l’animal que de l’homme mature. Questionner la valeur de l’enfance nous invite à redéfinir ce que nous entendons par « naturalisme » quand nous parlons de l’éthique d’Aristote.
