Abstract
Dans son mémoire à la commission Tremblay, la Chambre de commerce du district de Montréal s’intéresse particulièrement aux aspects administratifs et financiers de l’éducation. Elle propose d’assurer un système d’enseignement public et gratuit jusqu’à la fin du secondaire, comme cela existe déjà pour les protestants ; cela requiert la création de commissions scolaires régionales (ou l’octroi par la commission scolaire locale d’une subvention aux institutions privées offrant cet engagement secondaire). La Chambre réclame que l’État attribue des subventions plus importantes, et statutaires, aux collèges et aux universités.
