Les technologies de l’information et des communications sont perçues comme étant une solution potentielle aux problèmes actuels du système de santé québécois. Elles peuvent servir d’outils qui soutiennent les organisations et les pratiques professionnelles afin d’augmenter la qualité et l’efficience des soins et des services de santé. Au Québec, le Dossier de santé du Québec (DSQ) est considéré comme étant la pierre angulaire permettant l’intégration d’un ensemble d’informations utiles au suivi des patients. Pour en mesurer les bénéfices sur tout le système de santé, il faut d’abord que les professionnels de la santé s’approprient cette innovation. La perception des infirmières est essentielle à sa mise en œuvre puisqu’elles peuvent influencer son succès. Cette étude vise l’identification des facteurs qui influencent l’intention des infirmières d’utiliser le DSQ dans leurs activités cliniques. Un questionnaire reposant sur la théorie du comportement planifié a été envoyé à 199 infirmières de première ligne. Les résultats de l’analyse de régression multiple réalisée à partir des 102 questionnaires retournés indiquent que la perception du contrôle, l’attitude et les croyances normatives permettent d’expliquer 58% de la variance de l’intention des infirmières de première ligne d’utiliser le DSQ. Les résultats suggèrent qu’une intervention visant la croyance comportementale à l’effet que le DSQ améliorera la qualité des soins pourrait favoriser son utilisation. Des interventions devraient également viser la perception du contrôle des infirmières afin de favoriser leur adoption du DSQ.
