Les objectifs de l’étude ont consisté à déterminer la richesse spécifique et l’abondance de la population ichtyologique de l’Aire Marine Protégée (AMP) de Jaol Fadiouth au Sénégal. Pour obtenir une vue représentative de la répartition spatiale de la faune ichtyologique de l’AMP de Joal-Fadiouth, nous avons choisi échantillonner sur trois sites notamment les stations de Gaskel, Eglise et Mbar Assane. Des pêches expérimentales sont réalisées entre 2014 et 2015 durant les quatre saisons hydrologiques de chaque année notamment en saison froide (avril), en saison de transition froide-chaude (juin), en saison chaude (août) et en saison de transition chaude froide (novembre). Trois types d’engin de pêche à savoir une senne tournante (ST), un filet maillant encerclant (FME) de mailles 12 mm étirée et une palangre (P) ont été utilisés séparément d’une station à une autre, suivant les caractéristiques de chaque station. Elle nous a permis d’identifier les différentes espèces et leur aire de répartition dans l’AMP. Au total, 70 espèces ont été recensées entre les différentes stations de pêche expérimentale des deux zones. Ces espèces se répartissent en 60 genres appartenant à 38 familles. Les espèces de la famille des Sciaenidae et des Carangidae sont les plus nombreuses avec respectivement chacune 9 et 7 espèces, suivies par, les Sparidae, les Clupeidae et les Tetraodontidae avec 5 espèces pour le premier et 3 espèces pour chacune des deux autres.
