La résistance aux antimicrobiens est une menace croissante pour la santé publique qui, parfois, peut sembler impossible à contrer.Cependant, au cours des dernières années, d'importants progrès ont été réalisés pour s'attaquer au problème au Canada et dans le monde entier.Notre Plan d'action fédéral sur la résistance et le recours aux antimicrobiens au Canada a relevé trois piliers pour contrer la résistance aux antimicrobiens : surveillance, gestion et innovation.Ce supplément présente quelques exemples de programmes de gestion efficaces pour la collectivité, les médecins et les organisations de soins de santé; cette liste est loin d'être exhaustive.Puisque nous savons que les programmes de gestion efficaces sont possibles, il est important de poursuivre ce travail dans l'ensemble du pays.Chaque succès apporte une contribution, et les succès multiples peuvent créer un effet de synergie susceptible d'entraîner un changement dans les attentes des patients et les habitudes de prescription.Nos agents antimicrobiens sont une ressource précieuse.Il vaut bien la peine de contribuer à cette synergie et de favoriser une culture de gestion afin que les agents antimicrobiens continuent d'être efficaces pour les générations à venir.
