Abstract
El propósito de este artículo es doble: contribuir al estudio histórico de la autotraducción y hacer de introducción al análisis del prólogo de traductor como subgénero del prólogo, espacio paratextual típico del objeto novedoso que era el libro impreso en el Renacimiento. Se analizan los prólogos que escribieron para sus autotraducciones del latín al romance dos autores del Siglo de Oro, Juan de Mariana (1536-1624) y Bernardino Gómez Miedes (1515-1589). Por un lado, se examina la dinámica auto-reflexiva: ¿cómo se relaciona la retórica del autorretrato con la posición discursiva, esto es, la "postura", que adoptaba el autor-traductor en aquella época de mecenazgo? Por otro lado, se observa la dinámica interlingüística. Los prólogos de (auto)traducciones permiten observar cómo (no) se logra reconciliar las diferencias lingüísticas. En la España de los Austrias se estableció una jerarquía entre las lenguas (impresas, escritas o meramente habladas) que condicionaba las relaciones de (auto)traducción, pero también generaba posibilidades de autopromoción individual.
