L'objectif de la présente étude est d'identifier les déterminants de la mobilité entre la banlieue et la ville centre dans la région métropolitaine de Montréal. Nos analyses portent sur l'ensemble des municipalités de banlieue et utilisent les données du Recensement de 2006. Adoptant une perspective de cycle de vie, un modèle de régression logistique spécifique est développé. Les résultats montrent que le fait d'être jeune, célibataire, d'avoir un faible revenu et de fréquenter un établissement scolaire sont les facteurs les plus influents. Le portrait type du banlieusard quittant la banlieue pour la ville centre est un jeune adulte quittant le domicile familial. La ville centre peut alors être considérée comme un lieu de transition pour plusieurs personnes. Les résultats montrent aussi que les facteurs ethnoculturels, c'est-a-dire la langue parlée a la maison et le statut de minorité visible, n'ont pas d'impact significatif.
