Abstract
Selon l’expression de Kateb Yacine, à la fin du 19èmesiècle, l’Algérie n’était plus qu’un ensemble de tribus décimées. Les Français avaient dépossédé de leurs terres les habitants légitimes afin d’établir leurs villes et de faire prospérer leurs domaines. Le combat du jeune Emir Abdel Kader avait été âpre et courageux mais il avait dû se rendre et capituler devant les assauts ennemis. Tous ceux qui l’avaient suivi, se virent entraîner dans un maelstrom de souffrances et de privations jusqu’à la mort. Le livre de Mohamed Sadoun, Débâcle (2017) raconte à travers l’histoire d’une famille imaginaire un siècle soumis à de violents bouleversements qui devaient conduire à l’époque actuelle où la nation, après l’indépendance, est fondée sur la figure tutélaire de l’Emir.
