Abstract
En moins d’un siècle, l’histoire de la musique a connu en France un développement considérable. Passées les années de fondation où un petit nombre de savants impose la philologie comme moyen de donner une consistance scientifique à la musicologie naissante, celle-ci connaît une certaine peine à renouveler son modèle épistémologique alors même qu’elle connaît une fortune institutionnelle considérable. Dans l’après-guerre, en effet, les postes au CNRS, les chaires universitaires ou les cursus de formations se multiplient à travers le pays. Concurrencée dans les années 1970-1980 par l’analyse musicale, l’histoire de la musique s’est beaucoup renouvelée dans les deux dernières décennies en se rapprochant des sciences sociales.
