Abstract
Avec le roman Salut Galarneau! de Jacques Godbout (1967), il est possible de retracer les transformations que la culture canadienne-française a connues dans les années 1960. Bien que les artistes et les intellectuels de cette époque affirmaient ne plus accepter le statut minoritaire des francophones au Canada, les romans de cette époque montrent que le repli sur soi hérité du nationalisme messianique, l’idéologie dominante au Québec depuis la Révolte des Patriotes de 1837, se perpétue à travers la Révolution tranquille. C’est par une analyse de la parole des personnages et de leurs rapports de force que se dévoilent les conflictualités propres à la culture canadienne-française, et son rapport aux autres cultures dominantes avec lesquelles elle se mesure.
