Les Éléments de physiologie de Denis Diderot, œuvre fragmentaire composée en grande partie de notes glanées dans les Elementa physiologiæ d’Albrecht von Haller, font une intéressante référence à un médecin ayant perdu l’ouïe qui entendait des mélodies en posant sa main sur l’instrument de musique qui les jouait. Dans le présent article, il sera question de jeter un nouvel éclairage sur l’écriture de la physiologie en prenant pour objet de pensée cette « réclame » que Diderot écrit au sujet d’Abraham Kaau-Boerhaave (1715-1758), neveu du célèbre physiologiste Herman Boerhaave.
