Abstract
De los textos que componen el desarrollo de la Historia de Canarias, Le Canarien resulta quizás el más importante, al ser la primera obra que trata de manera frontal y profunda la conquista del archipiélago por Jean de Béthencourt y Gadifer de la Salle en 1402.Se trata de una crónica fundamental para entender el contacto entre europeos y nativos en el contexto de apertura atlántica del siglo xv.En este trabajo estudiaremos este contacto cultural a través de su representación iconográfica, tomando como objeto de análisis las miniaturas que muestran específicamente estos episodios de contacto, y que forman parte del más tardío de los dos manuscritos de Le Canarien que han llegado hasta nosotros, conservado en la Biblioteca Municipal de Rouen (Ms.mm 129).
