À travers l’étude ethnographique de l’astreinte de femmes sans-papiers au service domestique précaire en France, l’auteure a pour objectif de rendre compte de la zone de non-droit que le statut migratoire construit en favorisant une invisibilité et une exploitation maximale. La subordination des travailleuses est ici construite, en marge de la recherche spécialisée, comme une norme par les politiques migratoires – qui ne permettent pas, par le travail dans le service domestique, des droits au séjour légal. Dans ce contexte, les effets de la subordination se manifestent empiriquement dans et au dehors du travail. L’auteure propose de montrer comment la législation influe sur le rapport aux mobilisations collectives et sur les choix des femmes sans-papiers et leurs résistances sous l’effet de la génération migratoire.
