Abstract
Depuis 1945, la petite ville autrichienne de Braunau-sur-Inn a essayé de gérer la fascination qui entoure la maison natale d’Adolf Hitler. Comment les autorités locales ont-elles réussi à affronter ce patrimoine difficile et négatif qui a provoqué un débat international ? Quels plans de réutilisation ou de destruction ont été élaborés au fil des années ? Quelle a été l’attitude de la population locale et des diverses communautés ? Comment le gouvernement fédéral autrichien a-t-il réagi face à ce qui est devenu un symbole pour les groupes néonazis ? Au-delà de ce cas d’espèce, cette contribution vise à approfondir l’enjeu sociohistorique que représente le « patrimoine négatif » et la construction de la mémoire.
