Abstract

Cet article est issu de la réunion inédite de deux corpus d’entretiens menés avec des femmes ayant accouché en France ou ayant avorté au Québec au sein d’ins­titutions valorisant une prise en charge “alternative” de ces différents temps des trajectoires procréatives, ainsi qu’avec des professionnel·le·s travaillant en ces lieux. La mise en commun de ces terrains de recherche nous a permis de révéler des continuités et des discordances dans la définition et la mise en pratique de l’ “alternativité”, notamment de la démédicalisation appliquée à deux épisodes ordinaires de la vie des femmes : l’arrêt de grossesse et l’enfantement. En effet, les praticien·ne·s travaillant au sein de ces espaces de “résistance”, tout en portant une même contestation de l’injonction à l’encadrement thérapeutique du travail procréatif – plus spécifiquement du processus physiologique de la grossesse et de deux de ses issues possibles –, sont amené·e·s à participer à une construction différenciée de ces actes et à pérenniser selon des modalités originales l’opposition traditionnelle entre enfantement et arrêt volontaire de grossesse.
