Ce texte présente un portrait de la conception des sciences d’élèves de 4e secondaire à la suite de la mise à l’essai d’une démarche d’enseignement interdisciplinaire autour d’une question socialement vive à caractère environnemental (QSVE), celle des changements climatiques dans six classes de sciences de 4e secondaire de la région de Québec. Les résultats tirés de l’analyse d’entretiens semi-dirigés avec les élèves illustrent l’intérêt de notre démarche pour les élèves et précise comment elle a enrichi leur conception des sciences. Il semble que la stratégie pédagogique privilégiée permette d’enrichir certains aspects de considérations plus actuelles sur les pratiques de recherche et les incertitudes en jeu. Les formes d’engagement citoyen que mettent de l’avant les élèves au terme de la démarche sont aussi abordées.
