Abstract
La médecine avance très vite sur le front de la connaissance des supports et des effets biologiques de la maladie. Par contre, on sous-estime souvent le fait que la maladie n’est pas seulement un problème individuel, ce qui n’est pas sans conséquence sur l’effectivité de la prise en charge de bien des pathologies. On néglige encore plus souvent son vécu et ses représentations, au sein desquels s’enracinent cependant les conduites des malades face aux offres de soin.Par son milieu géographique, par l’histoire ancienne et récente de son peuplement, par les changements rapides de son système de santé, la Guyane est à cet égard particulièrement concernée par ces questions. Cet article esquisse une présentation des problèmes auxquels devrait s’attaquer une anthropologie médicale en Guyane. La bibliographie signale quelques importants travaux qui vont dans cette direction.
