Pada tahun 1512, Sultan Mahmud Syah mengutus Hang Nadim ke Bengkalis, Bukit Batu dan Siak-Gasib. Pada hakikatnya sejarah dan tamadun Bengkalis tidak terputus, bahkan data-data yang mendukung tentang kewujudan Bengkalis dapat ditemui dalam beberapa buku sejarah. Bengkalis maju dan berkembang seiring dengan kemajuan daerah-daerah lain yang ada di pesisir Selat Malaka, Pertumbuhan penduduk dan ekonomi pada masa ini menjadikan bangunan-bangunan arsitektur tradisional bercirikas melayu pada kawasan tersebut sudah mulai hilang dimakan usia dan tergusur oleh kebijakan. kebudayaan material dan spiritual dari berbagai etnik, strata sosial, ekonomi dan system pemerintahan kejayaan pada masa lalu yang sekarang disebut negeri junjungan, yang dapat dilihat melalui bentuk-bentuk bangunan dengan susunan lingkungan yang ada. Dengan melakukan analisis dan pendataan tentang budaya lokal serta implementasi perwujudan rumah sebagai identitas. Sehingga rumah bukan saja sebagai tempat kehidupan keseharian, tetapi juga menjadi kebanggaan dan lambang kesempurnaan hidup masyarakat yang bermukim pada lingkungan tersebut.
