Abstract
La sociologie d’Alfred Schütz a le potentiel de saisir la complexité des rapports entre familiarité et étrangeté qui se tissent dans le quotidien des sociétés contemporaines. Néanmoins, ses analyses de la venue d’un étranger au sein d’un groupe, qu’on retrouve dans son fameux essai « L’étranger », rencontrent des difficultés appelant une reconstruction critique. Une relecture de ses thèses de fond sur la typification sociale et la connaissance familière met en évidence les limites du recours à l’idéal type du migrant, qui accorde une primauté à la relation externe à l’étrangeté. Cette approche du problème de l’appartenance surdétermine la conformité des pratiques et des routines à l’intérieur du groupe accueillant l’étranger sur son territoire. La prise en compte de l’altérité interne ouvre alors la discussion à l’étrangeté latente au sein dunouset dumoien revisitant des outils de la phénoménologie sociale.
