Abstract
L’épithèque de Provancher ( Neurocordulia yamaskanensis ) a fait l’objet en 2017 d’une investigation au pied du mont Yamaska, dans le cours lent et sinueux de la rivière Noire, située à Saint-Pie, en Montérégie. Il s’agit de la localité type de l’espèce, découverte il y a plus de 140 ans par l’abbé Léon Provancher, et qui n’avait pas été explorée depuis sur le plan odonatologique. La collecte d’exuvies et l’observation d’adultes ont montré qu’une population de l’espèce est toujours présente dans l’environnement du mont Yamaska. Cette libellule discrète, rarement observée au Québec, passe généralement inaperçue en raison de ses moeurs strictement crépusculaires. Ce retour aux sources de la découverte de Provancher, en 1875, se veut un clin d’oeil à son oeuvre durable qui persiste par l’intermédiaire de sa revue Le Naturaliste canadien qui souligne, en 2018, son 150 e anniversaire.
