Abstract
During the first quarter of the 20th century, the Spanish colonies having been lost, Madrid was forced to rekindle its relations with the peninsular regions and nationalities that were gaining new momentum thanks to their socio-economic strength and regenerationist spirit. In this article we will analyse this centre-periphery relationship, through the Art news and announcements regarding Murcia collected in the annual El Ano Artistico, published in Madrid by the art critic Jose Frances between 1915 and 1926, complemented by illustrations taken from ‘Revista La Esfera’, a weekly publication from the same period.
