Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

Seismic reflections from time-boundaries are interactions with medium property changes which occur along the time rather than space coordinate axes. In this paper we set out some of the known aspects of this rarely-discussed aspect of wave propagation physics, and discuss some new features also (concerning setting up oblique reflections from boundaries with both space and time characteristics). Applicability of these ideas would seem unlikely, as they involve rapid and controlled changes in the properties of a medium illuminated by seismic waves. However, this may not remain so, as fluids with controllable properties (e.g., containing nanoparticle suspensions with electrical properties) are increasingly being investigated in the context of monitoring of injection into reservoirs. Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
