Cet article s’attache à sonder les enjeux politiques du rapport au passé au sein d’un groupe très actif politiquement dans l’État d’Oaxaca au Mexique : la section locale du Syndicat national des travailleurs de l’éducation. Confrontant les mémoires des luttes passées existant au sein de ce groupe, cet article aborde deux registres différenciés - individuel et collectif – selon lesquels le passé est mobilisé. Il montre comment ces mémoires, saisies de manière ethnographique, loin de s’entrechoquer, prennent sens une fois insérées dans leur contexte et nous donnent des éléments de compréhension de la vie politique de ce groupe.
