Abstract
La presente investigacion se realizo la Finca Kapok Plantas, dedicada a la produccion de esquejes de plantas ornamentales, ubicada en el Jocotillo, Villa Canales, Guatemala. La Finca forma parte de la corporacion multinacional Syngenta, exporta esquejes de plantas ornamentales principalmente a Estados Unidos y Canada, entre las variedades de mayor demanda se encuentran: Verbenas (Verbena sp), chinitas (Impatiens sp), margaritas (Osteospermum ecklonis), bacopas (Bacopa sutera), calibrachoas (Calibrachoa sp), cinco negritos (Lantana camara). Con el objetivo de conocer cada una de las actividades desarrolladas se realizo un diagnostico que permitio establecer como opera la finca, ademas de los procesos desde el trasplante al empaque de esquejes de plantas ornamentales, determinando los problemas existentes, dentro de los cuales se priorizo la floracion de esquejes de chinitas, especificamente en la variedad (Impatiens walleriana. Hook. f. 'Firefly Pink'). Este problema conlleva a una baja en los rendimientos de cosecha, aumento en mano de obra en labores de mantenimiento, lo cual repercute en los costos de produccion. Debido a que ano con ano se produce esta variedad, se planteo la investigacion con la finalidad de reducir la floracion y de esta forma aumentar la produccion y rentabilidad de esta variedad.
