Abstract
Pretende-se aqui investigar os pressupostos que levam a uma condenação pela filosofia moral das diversas práticas de engano comumente envolvidas sob o nome de hipocrisia. A argumentação é desenvolvida em torno de três questões: primeiramente, acerca dos pressupostos sob os quais práticas como: simulação, dissimulação e ironia vêm a se tornar um problema à filosofia moral. Depois, no sentido de se compreender como a hipocrisia, originalmente atribuída à arte do ator, vem a fazer parte da esfera moral designando, como arte do engano, o conjunto daquelas estratégias moralmente condenáveis. Por fim, de que maneira se poderia pensar uma via de contraposição a essa condenação. Como defendo, ela aconteceria sob um duplo pressuposto: o de uma distinção de perspectivas entre enganar e ser enganado –com seus respectivos modos de avaliação – e por meio de uma reavaliação das formas de pensamento atreladas à inteligência astuciosa que os gregos nomeavam por metis. Sob tais pressupostos, a hipocrisia poderia ser associada à pauta ético-poiética da criação de si.
