Abstract
Chemische Schätze des Meeres wurden von J. Piel et al. in ihrer Zuschrift auf S. 14727 ff. gehoben. Ein Vergleich aller veröffentlichten bakteriellen Genome wurde vorgenommen, um unter ökologisch und phylogenetisch ungewöhnlichen Bakterien neue produktive Naturstoffquellen zu identifizieren. Dieser ergab, dass das Pflanzenwurzel-assoziierte halophile Bakterium Gynuella sunshinyii eine produktive Quelle verschiedener Metaboliten mit neuen Strukturen und vielversprechenden Aktivitäten ist.
