Après le rappel de trois expériences de séduction pédagogique ou éducative, celle-ci est définie comme détournement, comme le montre Platon dans l’Allégorie de la caverne. Elle est ensuite décrite en trois temps : celui de la provocation de l’étonnement admiratif, puis de la connivence entre le maître et le disciple, le premier découvrant chez le second moins la faille qu’une aspiration semblable à la sienne ; le troisième temps est celui de l’autonomie conquise ou de l’aliénation. Sont alors explicités, par mode de conclusion, quelques enjeux fondamentaux de l’éthique de l’enseignement.
