Abstract
La garde partagée – ou alternée – représente un idéal de coparentalité égalitaire sans toutefois être adoptée par la majorité de parents séparés. Face à ce paradoxe apparent, cet article a pour objectif de mieux comprendre l’opinion de la population à propos de la garde des enfants. Pour ce faire, un sondage a été réalisé auprès d’un échantillon composé de 1 202 Québécois et Québécoises âgés de 18 ans et plus. Les données recueillies révèlent que la garde partagée représente, globalement, le mode de garde jugé idéal. Cependant, une analyse de regroupement en classes latentes a permis d’effectuer des distinctions importantes en dégageant quatre profils d’opinion sur cette question. La comparaison de ces profils sur le plan sociodémographique et de certaines des croyances et valeurs liées au mode de garde fournit des pistes d’explication de la diversité des postures.
