Le constat qui sert de ligne éditoriale et de fil rouge à ce numéro est le suivant : en matière de production scientifique des connaissances, une transformation en profondeur s’opère depuis quelques décennies tant à l’échelle de la société que des sciences sociales. Le processus innovant que nous observons est caractérisé par la volonté d’acteurs sociaux d’être partie prenante des processus de production et de valorisation des savoirs portant sur les objets qui les concernent. Cette exigence épistémique correspond aussi au besoin exprimé et mis en pratique par un nombre de plus en plus important de chercheurs universitaires. Le fait de travailler « avec », de « façon conjointe », dans une « recherche collaborative » ou « participative » et parfois en « partenariat », rend compte de la possibilité d’ouvrir la science, d’en démocratiser les dimensions de travail et aussi de questionner la portée performative de cette façon de générer de nouvelles connaissances.
