Abstract
Travelling screens have been used in the UK waste water industry for several decades and are widely renowned for their high solids capture ratio, robust design, reliable cleansing and relatively low operating and maintenance cost. However, achieving optimal performance of these screens is subject to their adequate sizing and control, combined with regular monitoring of their performance and proactive maintenance. Analysis of the photographic evidence and data gathered during a 3 months’ screen trial carried out in the UK by United Utilities at an operational waste water site revealed some key factors that could adversely affect the screen performance. It also prompted further critical analysis of the current design guidance and practices, which allowed making recommendations for improving the methods of sizing, control and maintenance of this type of screens. This resulted in some generalised conclusions being drawn which could be applied to other similar types of screens.

Full frame distilled prediction
Teacher imitationNot calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)
The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.
Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
score_only:v0-immature-baseline · verbatim from the scoring run: score_only means the number may rank works, and no category label ships from itClassification
machine, unvalidatedMachine predicted; a candidate call from one teacher head, not a consensus.
