Self-healing is considered as an indispensable function to achieve intelligent network management in future wireless communication systems. However, in ultra-dense networks (UDNs), it is a great challenge to realize efficient self-healing due to the massive and diverse network nodes, as well as complex transmission environment. The failed network access point may result in sudden traffic outage and severe service degrading. In this paper, we propose an effective self-healing algorithm for backhaul transmission in UDNs. Analytic Hierarchy Process has been introduced to evaluate the candidate relays, including traffic load, channel quality and residual transmission power. Then the most suitable relay to replace the failed node is selected to continue providing services for the impacted users. In order to improve the robustness of the system, we focus on the problem of the relays' load balance in the backhaul transmission. Simulation results have proved the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.
