Abstract

O câncer, atualmente, e considerado um problema de saude publica, devido as grandes consequencias sobre a morbi-mortalidade da populacao e consequentemente novas terapias estao sendo estudadas. O objetivo desta revisao de literatura foi descrever o mecanismo de acao e os efeitos do AGs n-3 no organismo do paciente oncologico, atraves da analise de publicacoes dos anos de 2004 a 2012. Foi observado que mesmo possuindo componentes beneficos no controle do paciente oncologico, o uso do w-3 nestes pacientes ainda nao e unanimidade na comunidade cientifica, devendo ser usado com cautela. Os estudos sobre a atuacao da imunonutricao e do imunomodulador w-3 sobre o paciente oncologico vem aumentando nos ultimos anos, porem, novas pesquisas sobre o assunto devem ser estimuladas, com o intuito de beneficiar o tratamento destes pacientes.
