Abstract
Le rapport entre technologie et développement met en jeu deux termes majeurs de notre discipline. D’abord, la technologie, qui est devenue le principal vecteur de la communication, et le développement, qui est un objectif partagé à la fois par des individus, des institutions, des sociétés et des nations. Mais au-delà de la technologie, c’est du numérique dont il s’agit. Ce rapport, s’il est de plus en plus questionné, a suscité des reflexions qui remontent au loin et qui sont liées à des technologies traditionnelles, voire classiques. Pour le chercheur en communication, plusieurs questions se posent : elles concernent les conditions optimales de son utilisation, les facteurs favorisant son adoption et les causes de résistance. Qu’est-ce qui fait qu’une technologie ou une application technologique connaisse un succès inattendu, alors que d’autres peinent à se faire adopter ? En quoi les technologies modifient-elles les pratiques en matière de développement ?
