Abstract
On prête généralement aux femmes et aux hommes des caractéristiques psychologiques distinctes qui trouveraient leur origine dans leurs chromosomes, leurs hormones ou leur cerveau et les conduiraient à assumer des rôles sociaux différents. Pourtant, rien n’indique que les femmes et les hommes soient prédisposés à remplir des fonctions sociales distinctes. Les travaux réalisés en « psychologie comparée des sexes » au cours des dernières décennies montrent clairement que les différences psychologiques entre les sexes sont minimes alors que les variations individuelles à l’intérieur des groupes sexuels sont, elles, considérables. Des études récentes montrent également que les pratiques éducatives contribuent au maintien des rôles sexuels traditionnels.
