Abstract
Le développement régional, à la fois comme objet d’étude et comme objectif politique, est passé \npar plusieurs phases. Nous proposons ici une brève historique de la pensée régionale et des \npolitiques régionales au Canada et au Québec des années 1960 à aujourd’hui. Après une première \npériode axée sur des grandes stratégies nationales de lutte aux disparités régionales,, ce que l’on \nappelle communément une politique régionale, les discours et les pratiques ont changé. L’accent \nest désormais sur le local : des actions locales, l’entrepreneurship local et des organismes locaux \nde développement économique. Ce cheminement vers le local, mais en laissant à l’État les grandes \nfonctions sociales et fiscales pour assurer l’équité territoriale et interpersonnelle, a finalement \ndonné résultats positifs à en juger par dynamisme économique et le niveau de vie des régions \nquébécoises.
