Un touche-à-tout patrioteGustave Comte est né le 30 mars 1874 à Montréal. Il se destine au droit avant d’opter pour le journalisme. Il signe ses premiers articles, des « silhouettes musicales » et des « causeries », au Passe-Temps en 1896. Trois ans plus tard, il devient le premier titulaire de la rubrique « Notes d’Art » des Débats, dont il démissionne le 18 juin 1900.
