WstępSkrzydlik jest procesem patologicznym obejmującym spojówkę i rogówkę, który w istotny sposób wpływa na refrakcję oraz ostrość wzroku.W powstawanie skrzydlika zaangażowane są mechanizmy antyapoptotyczne, immunologiczne, cytokiny, czynniki wzrostu, modulatory macierzy zewnątrzkomórkowej, czynniki genetyczne, infekcje wirusowe i inne (1).Skrzydlik prowadzi do istotnych zmian w stanie refrakcyjnym rogówki nawet wtedy, zanim jego wielkość obejmie strefę optyczną.Dostępnych jest wiele technik chirurgicznych leczenia skrzydlika.Za najskuteczniejszą i obecnie najszerzej stosowaną metodę uznaje się usunięcie skrzydlika i uzupełnienie ubytku autoprzeszczepem spojówkowym bądź błoną owodniową.
