Abstract
Introduction a ce droit issu de l'Angleterre et commun a tous les pays du Commonwealth. L'auteur, specialiste de la question, presente l'histoire et les sources de la common law ainsi que les principes actuels dans une analyse transversale. Sont etudiees les common laws de differents pays du Commonwealth (Canada, Australie, Afrique du Sud, Nouvelle-Zelande, Irlande, Inde...) et des Etats-Unis avec leurs differences et similitudes ; l'organisation des juridictions et des magistrats est detaillee et des exemples concrets etayent les demonstrations de l'auteur. Celui-ci insiste particulierement sur l'interaction forte entre la langue et le droit. Nombreux paralleles avec le droit francais.
