Abstract
L’obscurité de René Char, lieu commun de la critique, repousse ou fascine le lecteur. Cette réception, aiguë au lendemain de la guerre où elle s’inscrit dans le contexte d’une poésie issue de la Résistance, est active jusqu’à aujourd’hui. Si l’on tente de lui trouver des raisons, on observera que l’obscurité est une part constitutive de la poétique charienne, qu’elle a ses formes propres et ses enjeux historiques. La prendre au sérieux, au-delà des polémiques, engage alors de reconsidérer nos attentes de lecteurs en termes de communication poétique. Peut-être faut-il accepter de nouer autrement la lecture et la vie.
