Le présent travail académique est réalisé dans le cadre d’un projet de recherche ayant comme partenaire le Centre de Technologies Avancées BRP-Université de Sherbrooke (CTA), l’université Laval (UL) et l’université de Sherbrooke (UdeS) elle-même. L’objectif principal de ce projet est de concevoir un châssis de véhicule récréatif en alliage d’aluminium optimisé afin d’en réduire le poids, le nombre de pièces et le coût tout en offrant de bonnes performances dynamiques en matière de comportement sur la route et une bonne fiabilité. Le sujet du présent ouvrage s’inscrit donc dans ce projet de grande envergure et consiste à développer des outils de modélisation numérique permettant de faciliter la conception et l’optimisation de composants structuraux en tôles minces d’aluminium. Pour ce faire, il est question d’évaluer la formabilité des alliages AA5052 et AA5083 et de simuler leur comportement mécanique à l’aide d’outils de simulation numérique. En effet, lors de la conception d’une pièce en tôle mince formée par emboutissage, il est très pertinent de connaître les états limites de l’alliage en question. Ceci permet en fait d’évaluer la faisabilité de la pièce en question. Afin d’atteindre ces objectifs, plusieurs essais mécaniques comme l’essai de traction ainsi que l’essai de compression plane ont été effectués afin d’évaluer les propriétés mécaniques des alliages choisis sous des chargements monotones. De plus, les états limites des alliages en matière de déformation ont été déterminés à l’aide de l’essai de Nakazima, ce qui a permis d’obtenir les courbes limites de formabilité de ces alliages. Ces données ont ensuite permis l’établissement de modèles numériques permettant de simuler le comportement des alliages d’aluminium à l’étude lors d’un procédé de formage. Afin d’obtenir un modèle se collant le plus possible à la réalité, l’influence du choix de la loi d’écoulement et l’influence du critère de plasticité ont été étudiées.
