Abstract
Cet article étudie l’action collective des francophones de la Colombie-Britannique en matière d’éducation durant la période allant de la grève de Maillardville en 1951 à l’adoption de laCharte canadiennedes droits et libertésen 1982. Notre cadre d’analyse s’inspire de l’étude des mouvements sociaux, notamment des notions d’opportunités politiques et de schèmes d’interprétation. En plus de jeter lumière sur le groupe franco-colombien, qui demeure peu étudié en comparaison à l’Acadie ou à l’Ontario français, notre étude suscite aussi une réflexion sur les hauts et les bas de l’action politique. On le verra, malgré les possibilités qu’elles peuvent créer, les stratégies d’action politique ne sont pas pour autant une panacée pour les minorités francophones du Canada.
