Dead-Beat Current Controller for Voltage Source Inverter with LCL Grid-Tied Filter

Abstract
This paper aims to analyze, develop, and test new approach for improving the performance of the current controllers used in grid-connected ac-dc single-phase power electronic converters (PECs) with LCL grid-tied filter. The proposed approach employs an observer feedback, to minimize the controller sensitivity to parameters variations, and a disturbance estimator, to estimate and compensate for disturbances, as well as to reduce the steady-state error. The performance of the developed current controller is experimentally tested for a 10 kW single-phase PECs under different loading and disturbance conditions. Testing results show accurate, fast, and reliable responses that are initiated with negligible sensitivity to parameters variations and disturbances on the grid side.
