Abstract
Si la vigne sauvage semble présente dès le Néolithique dans la région et si la consommation de vin importé du Sud de la Gaule lors de banquets rituels est un important élément de prestige pour les princes celtes, c’est aux Romains que l’on doit le large développement de sa culture en Gaule. Textes d’auteurs antiques, amphores de types variés, vaisselle spécialisée, outillage, représentations iconographiques, mais aussi des découvertes de pépins de raisins ou de pressoirs sur certains sites sont autant de témoignages de l’importance de la vigne dans l’Alsace gallo-romaine et dans toute la vallée du Rhin.
