Abstract
This article offers an analysis of 'l'Adjonction particulière pour les Flamands', a short chapter from the Essay d'une parfaite grammaire (1659, Antwerp) by Laurent Chiflet. The text is a turning point in the history of the 'struggle against regionalisms' and deserves to be examined by historians, though approaches by scholars from other fields are required, too. Indeed, the author's data are heterogeneous ; in order to classify them, one must know the language forms used in Flanders and in Wallonia and take into account the history of the French language in Belgium, including its spreading and its teaching.
